The incident happened on Friday, June 23 around 1 p.m., when firefighters from both the Port Chester and Rye Brook fire departments were sent to 43 Avon Circle in Rye Brook on a report of a car crashing into a building.
Once crews arrived at the scene, they determined that a vehicle had jumped the curb and crashed into the two-story residence, which had been occupied at the time.
Soon, firefighters found structural damage in the building's basement and evacuated the residence as a precaution, also requesting help from the Westchester County Technical Rescue Team and Greenburgh Squad 36.
After help arrived, crews were able to stabilize the building using wood to shore up the damaged area. All in all, crews spent around three hours at the scene.
